Rogero CFW v3.1 is Out! BSOD Problems Fixed!

Hot on the heels of his previous release, Rogero brings everyone his latest update Rogero CFW v3.1. The main difference between this and the last release is the BSOD problem certain PS3s were running into after downgrading should be all fixed up. This CFW is an ideal candidate for those who have downgraded their consoles with a ProgSkeet or E3 Flasher device, but can be used by anyone with access to the 3.55 firmware on their consoles.

BSOD problem on some PS3 machines after downgrade now is fixed..

Usage / Compatibility:

- Can be used for Downgrade directly using a hardware flasher like Progskeet / E3 Flasher / Teensy++, etc...
- Can be used for normal system update like any other CFW/MFW from XMB or from Recovery Menu.
Internal Structure:
New Features:

- Built-in system version spoof to 4.11 to prevent accidental system updates (won't allow going online in any way)
- NoBD Patch to allow installing it with the Blu-Ray drive disconnected (especially for downgrading purposes)
- Have other fixes that prevents the Black screen or Payload loading problems encountered on some
PS3 systems.

Standard Features:

- Kmeaw patched Lv2 with necessary patches to allow Peek/Poke support (same games compatibility as Kmeaw CFW)
- LV1 Checks Disabled to bypass the Syscon hashes for downgraded consoles.
- Privacy Patch applied to block communications with all Sony servers.
- Custom Boot Logo.
- built-in "Heavy Rain" dynamic theme.

This is a better optimized version of the previous MFW released, This one is a
Custom firmware built manually by patching and packing the files and the final PUP package using the well known "failoverflow" public set of tools and having "Kmeaw" as the base firmware unlike it's previous version which was a Modified firmware built using the famous MFW builder application and using an OFW3.55 as the base firmware.
History:
After several days and more testing of the first MFW released for downgrading from 3.70-->3.55 I had some users feedback from #progskeet-support that some PS3 machines are having either the Registry Corrupted/Blue Screen or just a Black Screen after downgrade that required re-installing the MFW from Recovery Menu or reflashing the NOR in some cases.

Further research about the donwgrade V2 patches and the no_check.PUP with some more testing showed that a Kmeaw based LV2 seems to have better compatibility with the Downgrade patches applied to the NOR image then a MFW built with a
patched LV2, so I decided to build a new version manually which is a custom firmware that combines Kmeaw LV2 patches with Dospiedras Lv1 no-check patches and having the minimal/necessary set of patches to preserve the best overall stability.

Thanks to the all the beta testers especially Blakcat & Marlboro1

N.B:
please note that Rogero Manager v8.5 (to be released soon) or newer are only compatible with this CFW V2 because the CFW have the built in version spoofed to 3.70 and older versions of the Manager (8.4 and lower can't recognize it and won't be able to load the necessary payload.

Cheers

CFW True Blue v3.55 CFW v2

'True Blue' releases v2 of their CFW to support more upgrades & downgrading!
We have released V2 of the True Blue PS3 custom firmware (CFW).

This release adds the "no check" patches in order to support hardware downgraded consoles.

We recommend that all True Blue users update their PS3 to this CFW as soon as possible, as support for V1 CFW will be depreciated with the upcoming True Blue dongle firmware update.
Once you have download the file, please confirm the validity of the PS3UPDAT.PUP file contained within the ZIP archive by matching with one of the following hashes:

PS3 Save Game Unlocker

French Developer corwin75 has created an application that lets you edit your game saves, here is a quote from the release thread:
Hello.
It’s complicated you change your ps3 saves by lack of knowledge or you have simply no hex editor? The solution is very simple. PARAM Edit is a small program that I just create to modify your saves in several areas:
- Modify the protection of saves (lock / unlock copies)
- Make compatibility saves with your account
- Modify the saves details
- Change the title of the saves
- Edit sub-title of the saves

Sources are being modified to be especially easy to read and understand each operation.
EXPLANATION:
For compatibility. You need a save to make it compatible with a game and a save from your account with the same game.
Homebrew Developer TizzyT has modified the app to a loosely English based version:

PS3 Custom Firmware Validator

Developers Grimm and Berion have created an application, which checks and PS3 firmware you have downloaded, it reads all information on the firmware and tells you whether the firmware is MFW or OFW, the application also works with PSP and PS Vita firmwares, though the main basis of the application is for PS3 firmwares, here is a quote from the ReadMe:

Hello.
Custom Firmware Validator is a program designed mainly for veryfing downloaded or manually patched firmwares for PS3. This aplication compares checksums from the database with those which are being calculated on the currently open file. If at least one would match, the following things will appear: the name of the firware and its short description, the option to show the list of additional functions and the option to visit the author’s webpage, also one could copy a file onto USB with the proper directory stuctrure and its name (PS3, PSP, PSV).
Databases are external, written in the stardard XML and UTF-8 coded, so everyone can edit them and propose any possible corrections, what we encourage you to do.
We prepared three different bases for the program (the one for PS3 is loaded by default, but one can choose others from the option menu):
- The first one for PS3 (currently with all CFW/OFW (*.pup) and upadate packages *.pkg for Rebug and TB dongle).
- The other ones function as examples and need to be completed.

Please be advised: in order for Custom Firmware Validator to work properly Microsoft .NET Framework 4 at least ver. 4.0 is required. the program works on windows 7 – was not tested on XP, Vista or 8 (Developers/Consumers Preview).
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Do you plan to make databases updates?
A: Yes, but only the one for PS3. In this aspect we count on the community’s involvement. ;]

Q: Do you plan to release program updates?
A: Sure, but it depends on whether the submitted errors could be verified and whether we have ideas for new functions.

Q: What checksums are generated and will you add new in the future?
A: CRC32 (CRC32b), MD5, SHA1, SHA2-224, SHA2-256, SHA2-386 and SHA2-512. In future, probably SHA3. Others not, for the time being.

Q: Can I use CFV in order to generate checksums from other files than consoles’ firmware?
A: Yes, basically the source of no importance, because the program reads descriptions and checksums which can be freely edited and picked from the options menu.

Q: Is CFV legal?
A: Yes, it is, it doesn’t contain any keys/hashes used to sign files.

Q: Could I modify my console using the program?
A: Nah…
